Gluten intolerance

A gluten intolerance is caused by a sensitivity reaction of your immune system to proteins found in cereals such as wheat, barley, and rye. This is tested by screening your sample for elevated IgG levels towards gluten (= a food antigen). Find the full list of food antigens covered by 7DROPS here.

7DROPS screens for gluten, as well as components from different cereal & seeds such as:

  • Barley
  • Buckwheat
  • Chickpea
  • Corn
  • Hempseed
  • Lineseed
  • Malt (barley)
  • Millet
  • Oats
  • Poppy seed
  • Quinoa
  • Rapeseed
  • Rice
  • Rye
  • Sesame
  • Spelt
  • Sunflower seed
  • Wheat
  • Wheat bran
  • Wheat gliadin

Similar to lactose intolerance, gluten intolerance can also be based on a lack of enzymes.

7DROPS tests do not screen for a lack of enzymes needed for digesting gluten or lactose.

Expert opinion

"7DROPS ALL FIT is the best way to screen for wheat allergy and gluten intolerance, especially if you are not sure what component of a wheat product like bread or pasta you are reacting to. Even though the symptoms of Celiac's disease are also triggered by the ingestion of gluten, it cannot be tested through any 7DROPS test. "

Reviews

I’ve been felling unwell for months and had no idea what the reason could be. No doctor could really help me. After reading that food intolerances sometimes causes hard to diagnose symptoms, I took the 7DROPS food intolerance test and found out my body reacts badly to dairy products! I’m trying to change my diet and feel better already.

Sarah R., 24

For years, I experienced skin rashes and nausea whenever I eat certain foods like dairy products. A friend working in the medical field recommended trying 7DROPS to see where I stand – after my results came in, I started cutting out certain allergic foods from my diet and I feel way better now!

I’ve been struggling with this really random joint pain and head aches for years until I read that that stuff could be caused by an intolerance to food. I took the FIT test and the results say cutting out wheat might help, so that’s what I’m trying to do now!

But what if?

CELIAC’S DISEASE

Celiac’s disease is an autoimmune condition affecting about 1% of the Western population.

  • Gluten causes an inflammatory reaction in the bowels of Celiac’s disease patients
  • This inflammatory reaction causes diarrhea, weight loss, and malnutrition
  • Celiac’s disease is not a true food allergy
  • Symptoms can be extremely uncomfortable for the patient, but not life-threatening (e.g. no anaphylaxis possible)
  • 7DROPS tests do NOT screen for Celiac’s disease.
